２０２２年９月８日にスコットランドのアバディーン州（Aberdeenshire）にあるバルモラル城（Balmoral Castle）で崩御された英国のウィンザー朝第４代女王であるエリザベス２世（HM Queen Elizabeth II：１９２６年–２０２２年 / 在位期間：１９５２年–２０２２年）の横顔を使った定番切手が１９６７年に発行されているが、その５０周年（Golden Anniversary）を記念して、２０１７年に英国のロイヤルメール（Royal Mail）から記念切手６種類が発行されているので、今回紹介したい。１９６７年に発行された定番切手に至るまでの試行錯誤の内容が、６種類の記念切手に反映されている。
